In response to the impact of severe storms in Jamaica, the Sigma Beta Beta Chapter extended its commitment to service beyond local borders through a coordinated hurricane relief effort rooted in partnership and community collaboration.
Working alongside Turtle Hook Middle School in Long Island, New York, the chapter partnered with the school’s principal, Bro. Dr. Donald Humphrey, and the Turtle Hook mentoring program to mobilize support. With the combined efforts of Sigma Beta Beta Brothers, Turtle Hook staff, and students, a large relief container was filled with essential supplies intended to support families affected by the storm.
Over a two-week collection period, non-perishable food items and toiletries were gathered, reflecting a shared commitment to providing practical and immediate assistance. The collective effort demonstrated the power of intergenerational service, with students and adults working together toward a common humanitarian goal.
On November 21, 2025, the filled container was officially sent, marking the culmination of weeks of planning, coordination, and community engagement. The initiative highlighted the importance of collaboration in times of crisis and underscored the chapter’s willingness to respond wherever help is needed.
Through this effort, Sigma Beta Beta reaffirmed that service is not limited by geography. By standing with Jamaica during a time of need, the chapter demonstrated that brotherhood extends beyond borders, guided by compassion, responsibility, and a shared sense of humanity.
